OPS list to start next week

I was looking at the blog this morning and I thought you know what? Why am I putting up Murmuration as a video? The people who come to this blog, who stumble on it by chance, or occasionally drop by -- I'm sure they've see that. They don't need to come here to see it. Why bore them with it? Why embed it in a single post? But then I thought, well, I like it and what if they haven't seen it, just by chance? Then what?

So here's my answer. Once a week I'll create a post, the Other People's Stuff list, tagged "OPS list" and put on it links to this and that that I came across during the week that I liked that I hope the occasional regular (yes, yes) reader of this blog might like, along with any short comments I might add. The other posts will be my own Deep Thoughts. That way if you just want the links you can search for the "OPS list" tag and if you want to read my stuff you can.

We're likethat

Gibson's own seminal Neuromancer is to be issued as a disk next year and the whole 'floppy-back' industry, as it's protagonists term it, is just getting underway. Paul Peacock, ex-pat Brit who runs Floppyback Publishing International regularly puts out books on disks.

This article is from December 1992. You may recall I was a digital (electronic as then was) publishing early adopter http://tinyurl.com/ppdp9195 . Neuromancer was/is a great book and it's an honor to be mentioned in the same article (particularly since I seem to have been first ... hee hee hee). Filed under: ego / neuromancer

Horn of Africa Drought 2011 Humanitarian Relief

On Wednesday November 2, 2011, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be making a special visit to UNICEF's global Supply Center in Copenhagen to help put the global spotlight back onto the humanitarian crisis in East Africa, which has left more than 320,000 children so severely malnourished that they are at imminent risk of starving to death unless they get urgent help.

Maybe someone should get in touch with these this group of 25 guys, maybe they can help in some way: http://tinyurl.com/6z8c469
